Hello! My name is Jennifer. I am a natural-light maternity, newborn, child and family photographer serving the St. Paul-Minneapolis metropolitan area and beyond.

I have worked on my craft as a photographer with a faithful following of families since 2010 while also working full-time as an art director and photography stylist. In June 2017, I along with the support of my husband and family, decided it was time to go all-in with my photography business. I truly love what I do and am blessed to be able to do it!

A bit more about me: I am a wife. A runner. A cyclist. A daughter to two incredible parents. A sister. An aunt to some amazing kids. A Christian. I enjoy people, the outdoors, traveling and dark chocolate. Lots of it.

I look forward to meeting you!

Providing a memorable experience for families while creating gorgeous artwork is my passion. From a prompt response to your initial inquiry, to the delivery of your beautifully-printed keepsake art, I am committed to excellence and outstanding service.

Maternity, children and family sessions are interactive and fun, and take place either outdoors at a location we decide upon, or at my in-home studio. Newborn sessions are infant-led with a mix of awake and sleeping images, all captured between breaks for soothing and feeding in my studio. Baby’s safety and comfort always come first, and I am up to date with necessary vaccinations for working with newborns including T-DaP (whooping cough), MMR and influenza.

About two weeks after your session, you will see fully-edited images during your personal ordering consultation at the studio. (I love to see my clients’ expressions as they see the images we created for the first time!) At this consultation, I share ideas on how best to display the images, and you choose which images and signature art products you would like to purchase. You will get to create your own collection from products like framed fine art prints, gallery canvases, hand-designed albums and digital images. All collections include signature art (starting at $175) and digital images (starting at $225 for 25+ images). Purchased digital images are available to take home the day of your viewing.

If you’d like to schedule a session with me, please fill out the Client Questionnaire on the website. This helps me learn a little bit about you and your needs before I reach out to you.

The Art

You are going to love seeing images of your beautiful children and family printed on products from a carefully-curated selection of signature keepsake art. As much as possible, products are printed and hand-crafted in Minnesota, or designed in the United States. The products are simply stunning!

All framed canvases and fine art prints come in a variety of styles and finishes. Albums are hand-designed and covered in a variety of fabrics and leathers. Additional products including mini-albums, gift-sized prints, wood block prints and keepsake boxes are also available and can be added to any signature art + digital file collection purchase.

The Studio

My in-home studio space at Inver Grove Heights is inviting and comfortable. Gorgeous signature art is on display for you to see and touch. My barn-door wardrobe is stocked with a selection of cozy blankets, wraps and hand-knit caps for newborns, outfits for little tots, and even a few maternity gowns for expectant moms to wear. You are of course welcome to wear your own favorites, and may find my clothing tips information below to be helpful.

My studio space has floor-to-ceiling windows throughout with beautiful natural light. I work with different backdrops and simple props to create natural-looking images that are truly timeless.

Coordinating your family’s wardrobe can be stressful, but with the tips below, I am confident you will nail it. Wear what makes you feel confident and fabulous! Also, know that it is your family’s beautiful, happy faces that are going to be what make your images really shine!

  • Start with your outfit first, mom! If you are happy and feeling confident, so is everyone else :) Coordinate the rest of your family’s outfits with yours.
  • Layer up! Those extra pieces add dimension and depth. Spring or summer session? Add belts, a scarf, a cardigan or a pendant necklace. Fall or winter session? Add blazers, hats, scarves, sweaters, vests and belts.
  • Coordination is key. (Don’t be matchy-matchy!) We know you are a family by the sheer fact that you are being photographed together, so please (please!) don’t dress everyone in black pants and white shirts. Instead, choose two or three main colors that express your family’s personality AND will coordinate with the space you plan to display your images as wall art in your home. From there, add a pop of color and a pattern or two. I am happy to look at what you are coordinating via text or email if you’d like.
  • Steer clear of fluorescent colors. They cast icky shadows on faces :(  Versions of primary colors are much better: yellow (mustard, butter), red (maroon, brick, coral), and blue (navy, teal, royal).
  • Stay away from green if your session is outdoors in a grassy area with foliage. You will want to stand out from the green scenery you’re surrounded by. Green would be a great accent color for outdoor green-filled scenes.
  • For newborn sessions, minimal and simple is best. Gray, ivory, white and black are best for these sessions. Soft pink or soft blue are also okay - especially if big sister or brother will be photographed with baby.
  • Timeless style is always best. They will stand the test of time and never go out of style.
  • Dress for the weather. Weather can change dramatically in Minnesota. Please be prepared to be flexible with outfits: either add to them to stay warm, or subtract from them to stay cool. Put on some tights, a sweater, hat and boots if the weather is cooler than expected. Or, take off a cardigan and roll long-sleeves if the weather is warmer than expected.

I love your work, but am not sure I can swing full payment at this time. Do you offer a payment plan?

Yes, I am more than happy to set up a payment plan with you for photography products!  Photography is an investment, and I understand that making a couple smaller payments can be easier on the pocketbook. Please contact me for more information.

When and how do I pay you?

A non-refundable $100 session retainer is due at the time of the session booking to secure your place on my calendar. The balance of the session fee is due on or before the day of the session.  Payment for photography products is due the day of your personal ordering consultation. If you choose a payment plan, the product balance will be due before artwork is delivered. Cash, check and PayPal are accepted.

When should I schedule my session?

The earlier, the better for all kinds of sessions! If you want fall family photos, contact me a couple months ahead of time to secure your date. Maternity sessions usually happen between 32-36 weeks gestation, and booking a couple months ahead of time is best. If you plan to do newborn portraits, please contact me as soon as possible to schedule a “tentative” date based on when your little one is expected to arrive. Newborn session dates are flexible depending on baby’s birth date!

My child is sick. Can we reschedule?

Yes; please let me know at your earliest convenience! I get it - nobody wants to have their photos taken when they’re sick :(  We can definitely reschedule.

You’re sick? What do we do now?

Believe it or not, I do on occasion get sick (just like you!) I take my work with you very seriously; if I am sick and unable to be my best self and deliver my best work, I will reach out as early as possible so we can reschedule. Plus, I don’t want to be the one that gets your family sick.

Oh, no! What if I’m late to my session?

Please let me know as soon as possible if you are going to be late for your session! A few minutes late for a family session is okay.  And, I offer even more grace for newborn sessions :) Unfortunately, though, I do not extend the length of a session to accommodate tardiness. If you are more than 20 minutes late to your scheduled session and have not let me know, I consider you a no show and reserve the right to pack up. Please remember session retainers are non-refundable.

Wow - you are taking A LOT of pictures! Do I get all of them?

Sorry, but no! I take lots of images to ensure I don’t miss that perfect, picture-worthy moment. After the session, I cull the images to eliminate duplicates, blinks, images that are not up to my standards, or where I have missed focus or composition. Each image is then carefully edited. Trust me when I say I present the BEST images from your session to you!

How long will it take to receive my images?

Within two weeks after your session, you will see fully-edited images during your personal ordering consultation at my studio. Purchased digital images are available to take home the day of your viewing (yeah!). Purchased signature art pieces will be delivered to you about 3 weeks after the consultation.

What is a personal ordering consultation and do I have to do one?

This is where the fun happens! Truly. This is where we bring your images to life! At this consultation, you will get to see images from your session for the first time. You will bring your ideas about where you’d like to display your images as art in your home, as well as measurements of the space. I will share ideas on how best to display the images and show you products. You select frame styles and finishes, album cover materials, and you choose which images and signature art products you would like to purchase. You will get to create your own collection from products like framed fine art prints, gallery canvases, hand-designed albums and digital images.

Can you remove a scratch or cut from my child’s face?

Yes!  I will do my best to remove small cuts, bruises or blemishes visible on anyone in the images. If there is something of particular concern, please let me know.  Please know that I only retouch things that would naturally heal/go away in a short amount of time. Sorry folks, but I do not do body contouring. You are beautiful just the way you are!

It’s raining (or cloudy, cold, snowing, lightning!) What do we do now?

The weather in Minnesota can sure be unpredictable! I am happy to shoot outdoors on a cloudy or cold day, however, if there is a 50% or greater chance of rain or snow, I will ask that we reschedule.

Do you travel?

Yes, I do! I am happy to travel up to 15 miles to whatever location we decide upon. If the location is greater than 15 miles from my studio, a mileage fee of $1/mile to and from from my studio applies.

Do you offer mini sessions?

Yes! On-location family mini sessions are available. They’re focused just on your family. Because they’re short and sweet, we won’t have time for all of the different groupings we do in a full session. You can expect images of your family (all together) as well as children (all together). Sorry, but these sessions are not for extended families.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes! The gift of photography is the best gift to give and receive. The gift certificate is beautifully-designed and packaged - ready to surprise your favorite person! Please contact me for more information.

Do you have a referral program?

So glad you asked - yes! I would be most grateful if you would tell your friends about Jennifer Celine Photography. When they book a session with me and tell me you referred them, they will receive a complimentary 8x10 frame with 5x7 print, and so will you with your next session!

Have a different question? Feel free to contact me!

Preparing for Your Newborn’s Session

Diaper  Please loosen your baby’s diaper at least 30 minutes before to the session. This reduces diaper imprints on skin.

Awake = Asleep  Please keep baby awake 1-2 hours before the session - especially on the drive to the studio. This will help ensure we get some sleepy photographs of baby :)

Feeding  Please plan to feed baby when you arrive at the studio. This will help ensure baby has a full tummy and is content. There is time built into the session for feeding throughout.

Pacifier  Please bring a pacifier.

Length  Sessions can last between 1-3 hour depending on baby’s needs. Patience and relaxation through the session are encouraged!

Temperature  The studio will be warm (about 80 degrees) so baby is comfortable. Please wear comfy clothes. Water and light snacks will be available.

Siblings  If siblings will be included in the photographs, please let me know before your session. They will be photographed first. Because newborn sessions can get long, please have another parent with to care for siblings when they are done being photographed.

Poo Happens  And I’m totally used to it :) For some images your baby may be diaperless. It’s natural and expected that blankets and wraps will get soiled. Bet you didn’t know I am an expert laundress, did you?

Props  I have a lovely collection of natural and sweet backdrops, bonnets and props. If you have something special you would like to include in a photograph of your baby, please let me know before your session and I’ll make sure to incorporate it.

Safety  Safety is always first. I ask that a parent is always near baby and actively involved in the session.

What to Wear  Simple, natural and neutral are always best. Long-sleeved or sleeveless knit tops for mom, and short-sleeved knits for dad are a great choice. Neutral colors for mom, dad and siblings are also best. This could include a soft pink or light blue for siblings. Please bring two options for each family member in the event of soiling.
