Hello! My name is Jennifer. I am a natural-light maternity, newborn, child and family photographer serving the St. Paul-Minneapolis metropolitan area and beyond.

I have worked on my craft as a photographer with a faithful following of families since 2010 while also working full-time as an art director and photography stylist. In June 2017, I decided it was time to go all-in with my photography business. When I'm not working with my own photography families, you'll find me in several Twin Cities hospitals photographing newborns and their families with First Day Photo. I truly love what I do and am blessed to be able to do it!

A bit more about me: I am a runner. A cyclist. A daughter to two incredible parents. A sister. An auntie to two amazing kiddos. A Christian. I enjoy people, the outdoors, traveling and dark chocolate. Lots of it.

I look forward to meeting you!

Providing a memorable experience for families while creating gorgeous artwork is my passion. From a prompt response to your initial inquiry, to the delivery of your beautifully-printed keepsake art, I am committed to excellence and outstanding service.

Maternity, children and family sessions are interactive and fun, and take place either outdoors at a location we decide upon, or at your home. Newborn sessions take place in your home and are infant-led with a mix of awake and sleeping images, all captured between breaks for soothing and feeding. I have a collection of cozy blankets, wraps and caps for newborns, outfits for little tots, and even a few maternity gowns for expectant moms to wear. You are of course welcome to wear your own favorites, and may find my clothing tips information below to be helpful.

Baby’s safety and comfort always come first, and I am up to date with necessary vaccinations for working with newborns including T-DaP (whooping cough), MMR and influenza.

If you’d like to schedule a session with me, please fill out the Client Questionnaire on the website. This helps me learn a little bit about you and your needs before I reach out to you.

The Art

You are going to love seeing images of your beautiful children and family printed on products from a carefully-curated selection of signature keepsake art. As much as possible, products are printed and hand-crafted in Minnesota, or designed in the United States. The products are simply stunning!

All framed canvases and fine art prints come in a variety of styles and finishes. Albums are hand-designed and covered in a variety of fabrics and leathers. Additional products including mini-albums, gift-sized prints, wood block prints and keepsake boxes are also available and can be added to any signature art + digital file collection purchase.

Coordinating your family’s wardrobe can be stressful, but with the tips below, I am confident you will nail it. Wear what makes you feel confident and fabulous! Also, know that it is your family’s beautiful, happy faces that are going to be what make your images really shine!

  • Start with your outfit first, mom! If you are happy and feeling confident, so is everyone else :) Coordinate the rest of your family’s outfits with yours.
  • Layer up! Those extra pieces add dimension and depth. Spring or summer session? Add belts, a scarf, a cardigan or a pendant necklace. Fall or winter session? Add blazers, hats, scarves, sweaters, vests and belts.
  • Coordination is key. (Don’t be matchy-matchy!) We know you are a family by the sheer fact that you are being photographed together, so please (please!) don’t dress everyone in black pants and white shirts. Instead, choose two or three main colors that express your family’s personality AND will coordinate with the space you plan to display your images as wall art in your home. From there, add a pop of color and a pattern or two. I am happy to look at what you are coordinating via text or email if you’d like.
  • Steer clear of fluorescent colors. They cast icky shadows on faces :(  Versions of primary colors are much better: yellow (mustard, butter), red (maroon, brick, coral), and blue (navy, teal, royal).
  • Stay away from green if your session is outdoors in a grassy area with foliage. You will want to stand out from the green scenery you’re surrounded by. Green would be a great accent color for outdoor green-filled scenes.
  • For newborn sessions, minimal and simple is best. Gray, ivory, white and black are best for these sessions. Soft pink or soft blue are also okay - especially if big sister or brother will be photographed with baby.
  • Timeless style is always best. They will stand the test of time and never go out of style.
  • Dress for the weather. Weather can change dramatically in Minnesota. Please be prepared to be flexible with outfits: either add to them to stay warm, or subtract from them to stay cool. Put on some tights, a sweater, hat and boots if the weather is cooler than expected. Or, take off a cardigan and roll long-sleeves if the weather is warmer than expected.
